EcoTrainingEcoTraining was established in 1993 to provide potential nature guides with the basic grounding, knowledge and professionalism required to enter this rapidly growing industry. Since then, hundreds of students have attended our courses and many of them have gone on to establish successful careers in the eco-tourism business. EcoTraining is owned by two highly experienced guides: Lex Hes and Anton Lategan. Lex brings more than 20 years of guiding experience into the business and is also a successful wildlife photographer and author. Anton has worked as a guide in some of southern Africa’s top game lodges and has traveled widely through southern Africa, visiting most of the remote wilderness areas in the regions.

EcoTraining is the pioneer and leader of practical wildlife and nature-based training programs in Southern Africa. EcoTraining believes that no-one can truly experience Africa's wild places without actually spending time in the wild. All their courses are conducted from bush camps in the middle of great wilderness areas. As a student you eat, sleep and breathe the wild African bush.

Courses

EcoTraining offers two different courses, a basic course (FGASA Level 1) and an advanced course (FGASA Level 2). To be allowed to attend the advanced course you must have succesfully completed the basic course. Just for fun my wife and I did the basis course in June 2002 and the advanced course in November 2005. Select the links on the left of the screen to see the course details and pictures.
