Satara entrance gateThis camp lies in the knobthorn veld on the turf flats which offer the best grazing in the Kruger National Park. Satara lies smack in the middle of big-cat country. Large concentrations of game and lion occur here. Also if you want to see cheetahs this is the place to be. I've seen two cheetahs in the four times I've been to the Kruger Park and I saw both these cheetahs near Satara (one 100 meters outside the gate of Satara camp). The area is known for its spectacular sunsets. Three dams and six waterholes are found here in close proximity. Rare animal species found in the area are eland, nyala, white and black rhino, sable and wild dog. Accommodation includes six-bed cottages, two/three-bed huts.

Just 100 meters outside this camp near a waterhole one of the two webcams in the Kruger National Park is situated (the other is in Orpen). Click this link to open a new window showing Orpen webcam.

Things to seek in the Satara area

  • Red-billed Buffalo Weaver
  • Lion
  • Giraffe
  • Blue Wildebeest
  • Honey Badger
