Kalahari Tented Camp is an unfenced wilderness camp near Mata Mata restcamp. The camp is not fenced and for your safety a ranger is permanently based at Kalahari Tented Camp. Electricity is provided by solarpanels. Electricity stays on during the night but plug points are not available so make sure that you either have car chargers for your electrical equipment or make sure that you don't need to charge anything. Kalahari Tented Camp doesn't have a shop or a petrol station. You can get petrol and basic food items in Mata Mata which is located only 4km Kalahari Tented Camp. The camp has it's own waterhole which you can see from your cabin. Unfortunately the waterhole is not floodlit. There is no cellphone reception in camp. The camp has a small pool which is fenced so animals can't access the pool area.

The area where Kalahari Tented Camp is located is prime game viewing area. This area is usually very good for lion and cheetah sightings. Close to the camp are some of the most productive waterholes in the park. I'd recommend a three to four day stay in this camp.

Honeymoon tent

I stayed in the honeymoon tent in April 2007 and it was stunning. The honeymoon tent is located at the far right of the camp and overlooks the Aoab riverbed. As it is on the far left of the camp you get the sense of privacy that you get when staying in private lodges. You know that there are other people in camp but you can't see them and they can't see you. The honeymoon tent has a king size bed and the bathroom has a bath and a shower. The other difference between the normal tents and the honeymoon tent is that the honeymoon tent is slightly larger (about 2 meters) and that means that you have a bit more space in your braai area. I highly recommend this camp in general and the honeymoon tent in particular.
