Urikaruus is an unfenced wilderness camp about 50km South of Mata Mata restcamp. The camp is not fenced and for your safety a ranger is permanently based at Urikaruus. Urikaruus is a small camp of only four units. Each unit has 2 single beds, a bathroom with w/c and shower, an equipped kitchen with gas fridge / freezer, solar power for lights, gas for hot water and braai facilities on a deck.

Electricity in Urikaruus is provided by solarpanels. Electricity stays on during the night but plug points are not available so make sure that you either have car chargers for your electrical equipment or make sure that you don't need to charge anything. Urikaruus doesn't have a shop or a petrol station. You can get petrol and basic food items in either Mata Mata 50km to the North or at Twee Rivieren camp which is 67km to the South. Make sure you have water, food and firewood when you stay at Urikaruus or you'll go hungry. The camp has it's own waterhole which is close to the cabins. The waterhole is not floodlit so bring a spotlight if you want to see any activity at night. There is no cellphone reception in camp. 

Spotted hyaenas and a resident leopard are often seen at Urikaruus. When I stayed there I saw the hyaenas every day, but I unfortunately didn't have the luck to see the leopard. The area where Urikaruus is located is prime game viewing area. Close to this camp are a couple of the most productive waterholes of the park (Dertiende Boorgat, Veertiende Boorgat and Dalkeith). This area is usually very good for cheetah sightings. I'd recommend a two day stay in this camp combined with a two day stay at Kalahari Tented Camp.
