Third Bridge
Camping
Third Bridge campsite is my second favourite campsite in Moremi (with Xakanaxa being my favourite). The campsites at Third Bridge are poorly marked so everybody just pitches their tents on a spot they like. Unlike some of the other campsites in Moremi this campsite has a lot of lovely large trees which give some nice shade. The camp unfortunately has a baboon problem which means that you can't leave any food in your tent as the baboons will rip it apart. Even when there is no food in your tent collapse the tent when you go on game drive to prevent baboons from destroying your tent. At night hyaenas patrol the campsite and they can become very cheeky if you don't scare them off. When you yell at them they usually run off and if that doesn't help throw some small stones or pieces of wood at them (but don't hurt them). If you don't scare them off they will get bold and even steal your food from the barbeque. When I was there a hyaena ran off with a cooking pot from the people camping next to us. The hyaena just walked up to the fire and grabbed the pan from the open fire. So much for hyaenas being afraid of fire. It got so bold because our neighbours didn't scare it off.
Game viewing
Game viewing in the Third Bridge area is excellent. Wild dogs are regularly sighting in the area and lions and leopards are also often seen. The area has a lot of natural water which means that general game is plentiful through the year.
Road conditions
The roads in the North Gate area can be very sandy in places and very muddy in the Kwai river area. As is the case with all the roads in Moremi you'll need a 4x4. The road network in Moremi is extensive and proper paper maps do not exists. Bring a GPS with the Tracks4Africa maps installed to Moremi to prevent getting lost.
Fuel, food and water
As is the case with all the campsites in Moremi you can't buy any fuel or food in or near the campsite as there are no shops. There are several water taps dotted around the sites but I wouldn't recommend this as drinking water. Bring your own fuel, food and drinking water when staying in Moremi.
